The Best Pickleball Courts in Manhattan

The Best Pickleball Courts in Manhattan

Looking to dink in NYC? Need a kitchen to cook? Don’t know where to actually play? We get it.

Space is tight in Manhattan, but as pickleball continues to grow exponentially, so does the number of courts in the city. Since House has our finger on the pulse of the Pickleball world, we’ve scouted the top courts for you. We do the background work so you can focus on your backhand and achieve glory on the court.

Below are our favorite spots in Manhattan.

1.) St. Vartan Park

Location: Murray Hill (1st Ave & 35th Street)
# of Courts:
4 outdoor courts
Hours of Operation:
6 AM – 11 PM daily
Description:
St Vartan is one of the top spots for community-oriented Pickleball. Run by the St. Vartan Park Conservancy, volunteers are often on site to facilitate games, tournaments, and neighborhood vibes with players of all ages. And one of the coolest features is an on-site, fully stocked equipment chest. Chock full of nets, paddles, balls and more. Other courts should take note.

Oh, and there’s a public restroom, and a backboard for some solo practice.

Team House Advice: St. Vartan is best place to get out and meet your neighbors! The Conservancy website has more info, and a slack channel where the community stays alive.

2.) City Pickle - Central Park

Location: Wollman Rink, Central Park
# of Courts: 14 permanent courts
Hours of Operation: 8 AM – 9 PM daily
Description: The gosh dang behemoth of New York Pickleball. The MOST Pickleball courts in one place in the whole Northeast. CityPickle at Wollman Rink transforms Central Park into the city’s largest dedicated pickleball facility each summer. Here you can reserve courts, join leagues or open-play sessions, participate in community clinics and youth camps, and even host private events. Any birthdays coming up?

This is exactly what beautiful public parks are built for.

Team House Advice: These courts can be… expensive. During off peak hours (10-5 M-T) rates run $80 per hour. That jumps to $120 on weekends and nights. So split the tab with friends. Book time here.

3.) William F. Passannante Ballfield

Location: The West Village (W. Houston St. & 6th Ave)
# of Courts: 5 outdoor (bring your own net)
Hours of Operation: 6 AM – 10 PM daily
Description: If Wollman is Wal-Mart, the Houston courts are the scrappy mom & pop shop where everyone belongs. This free, first-come, first-serve spot in the heart of the West Village is where you can meet the love of your life, watch some basketball, and avoid the children scootering at the speed of light around the courts. Courts are free, but space is competitive, so get social.

Team House Advice: It IS nice to be a west village girl. Make a day out of it. After dinking on Houston, grab lunch at Hamburger America, check out some cute shoppy shops, and vibe with the skaters in Washington Square Park.

4.) Hudson River Park

Location: Hudson Yards (12 W 33rd St)
# of Courts: 4 outdoor hard courts (built-in nets)
Hours of Operation: 6 AM – 1 AM daily
Description: Hudson River Park offers four free public courts with built-in nets and stunning riverfront views. The first-come, first-serve setup relies on common etiquette, but we all know Pickleballers are nice and happy to share.

Nearby restrooms make it convenient to spend a full summer day by the water.

Team House Advice:
This is a popular court, so be prepared to wait - but what a great place to wait. Beautiful views, the breeze over the Hudson, tons of hotties in run clubs... it's simply one of the best places to spend a New York summer day.
